Juniperus Communis

Juniper is an evergreen botanical, commonly found in Italy around the Alps, Appennini regions and Sardinia. In ancient times it was thought that Juniper had magical properties. Roman doctors used Juniper to cure kidney disease, The Greeks considered it a symbol of fertility and burned it during rituals. It was thought that the very aromatic scent of Juniper was able to purify the air and ward off any disease. Romans used to add Juniper to their wines to add aroma and help the appetite or the digestion. We are proud to use only the best Italian Juniper to produce Seven Hills Gin.

CELERY
Apium

Celery commonly grows across the globe, is used as an ingredient for cooking but in the past was used by Roman doctors to cure headaches. Celery is a key ingredient for Italian cuisine, its addition to dishes adds depth of flavour and aroma. We are proud to use the best Italian celery to produce Seven Hills Gin. 

ROSE HIP
Rosa canina

The Rose hip is an ancient plant, born more than forty million years ago. Thanks to its spines similar to dog fangs in ancient times it was thought that it could be a remedy for rabies. During the Roman era, the use of Rosehip had a more ornamental than therapeutic purpose: after bathing, Roman women rubbed themselves with rose powder, and made up their eyelids with the essential oil obtained from the flower. Its berries are considered natural sources of vitamin C and are therefore able to contribute to the strengthening of natural defenses. Rose hip is used to add floral and sweet aromas and we are proud to use only the best italian rose hip to produce Seven Hills Gin.

POMEGRANATE
Malogranatum

Pomegranates have been cultivated throughout the Middle East, South Asia, and Mediterranean regions for several millennia, today it is also cultivated in the Central Valley of California and in Arizona. Romans used to offer pomegranate to pregnant women to wish them a healthy newborn baby. Pomegranate has a beautiful sweetness with a slightly sour taste and we are proud to use only the best pomegranate to produce Seven Hills Gin.

ROMAN CAMOMILE
Chamaemelum Nobile

The origin of this plant is unknown, the first historical reference dates back to 1500, the year in which it was reported in London as a weed. Camomile is known for its medicinal qualities, in Egyptian mythology the camomile flower was dedicated to the God of the sun, Romans used as relaxant for their bodies. A few drops of camomile essential oil have invigorating and tonicizing properties for the nervous system. Roman Camomile has great bittersweet and floral aroma and Seven Hills uses the best essence of camomile to produce the best Italian gin.

BLOOD ORANGE
Citrus Sinensis

Sweet oranges may have originated in the southern Mediterranean. In Europe, the Moors introduced the orange to Spain, with large-scale cultivation starting in the 10th century as evidenced by complex irrigation techniques specifically adapted to support orange orchards. Citrus fruits — among them the bitter orange — were introduced to Sicily in the 9th, but the sweet orange was unknown until the late 15th century or the beginnings of the 16th century, when Italian and Portuguese merchants brought orange trees into the Mediterranean area. The Romans considered oranges a luxury item as well as a sign of fertility. The bittersweet zesty flavour of the orange offers a beautiful aroma and we are proud to use the best oranges to produce Seven Hills Gin.
